Crazy to think that AJ is now the same age that Tony was when the show started.
According to David Chase (who directed this commercial) this was meant to be treated as a continuation of the series. He even pulled the show’s original director of photography back to film this. Along with the countless allusions to the original show, the reason for meeting at the same restaurant as Made in America is left open.
Even when chasing a paycheck, David Chase stays so committed to the art. What a legend.

You can notice AJ exiting the old red car in the background when Meadow exits the new chevrolet (you can also see it behind AJ when he's walking). Maybe it shows that AJ isn't really doing well in life, money wise, whereas Meadow is.

What's so touching about this, is that the two of them really are best friends in real life, almost like a real brother and sister. She even says her kids call him "Uncle Rob."

This was my dads favorite show when I was growing up. He passed in 2018 and when this commercial came on for the first time I started to tear up instantly. Amazing tribute.
sorry to hear that, but I'm glad you got to experience the show with him. my father died when I was a little kid, but recently I watched the show in its entirety with my mother, who is getting pretty old. I hope she doesn't go anytime soon, but when she does I'll have similar memories of watching it with her.

I watched it at my local bar, and it turns out I was the only one who had watched/seen the Sopranos, so only I got the commercial.

We the many Sopranos fans scouring through all the subtext in this commercial because we all know David Chase loves subtext, and he knows we know that. This commercial is both a “fuck you” to the fans as well as a “here’s something new for you all”.
I remember hearing/watching this for the first time. Still couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Probably one of the best Super Bowl commercials in recent memories.

Making sure her uncle Paulie who has retired from the life well taken care of, her uncle Sil having recovered from a coma acting as her confidant. though the damage he still has to deal with, and making sure her knucklehead brother is keeping out of trouble.

To me, this commercial is proof that aj and Carmella both died that night in holstens as well. Several different clues such as meadows jewelry. Men’s Pinky ring on her middle finger. This symbolizes tony. The jewel is black.(death) then on that same hand, her right hand, she has a wedding band on her ring finger. Traditionally, wedding rings are worn on the left hand. This leads me to believe that this is one of Carmella’s rings. Then, lastly, what is the only piece of jewelry that aj wore? Diamond earrings. And what’s added on to meadows bracelet? A diamond earring. Also aj never makes any physical contact with anything except for meadow. Watch and see. What is he wearing? All black. Whenever him and meadow finally embrace? What’s behind her? A family of ducks. What’s behind him? A Cadillac hearse, with the back window open. Inside is only darkness. Throughout the series meadow drives cars. Now she has switched to a big truck. This shows that meadow is accommodating to a family life. She has to raise her own little “ducklings” herself. So meadow and ajs embrace is symbolic of her letting go of her lost family, and moving forward with her new family. David chase insists upon the fact that the ending is supposed to be sort of hopeful. I never got that until I watched this. This right here, is extremely hopeful.
